Sample Project Two

I've posted a sample draft of Project Two to help you identify the main components of the project that you should include. Please let me know if you have further questions.

Additionally, I've posted a working version of the entire instructional design that I've been working on for the class, so you can see how the document is beginning to shape up (and so that you can see how the materials will build toward your final portfolio).

Sample Articulate Programs

I'm not here to shill for Articulate.com, but I tried out their software on a trial basis this afternoon and was pretty impressed with what I saw. Check it out:

Online module: Developing Instructional Materials Module (will link to a zip file for you to open).

Online quiz: Designing Instructional Materials Quiz

It's not a perfect product, but it's easy to navigate and prduces a nice final product, I think.

Sample Performance Objectives and Assessment Instruments

To help you as you continue building your instructional design through the next phase of the project, I've posted sample documentation (based on my Project One sample) for performance objectives and assessment instruments. This is a work in progress, so some revisions will be made to the document as we move forward. I'll let you know once more updated information is available.

Please remember that these are only an example of one way of completing the project; it is not meant to be a plug-and-chug formula for the documentation but rather an illustration of how the ID process can be approached. I expect that you'll modify your own documentation based on your particular instructional goals and learning contexts.

Sample Project One

I've posted a sample project that illustrates the nuts and bolts of how to document the first phase of the ID process for Project One. This should help you as you prepare your project for Monday, February 18.

NO CLASS, Wednesday Feb. 6

I've cancelled this evening's class (2/6/08) so that people aren't traveling in terrible weather and treacherous roads.

In lieu of class, please review the powerpoint I prepared for tonight's class. I put more detailed comments in the notes section than I usually do to supplement the information on the slides and what you read in the text, but Chapter 5 is pretty self-explanatory. If you have questions on the content, let's talk about them at the beginning of class on Monday (2/11/08).

For Monday:

  • Two brief case studies are posted online (in the protected section of the site) that I would like you to read and be ready to discuss on Monday.

  • Finish outlining the subskills and entry behavior for the paper airplane project that we worked on at the end of class Monday. Please be ready to talk about questions or challenges that came up during the process.

In the meantime, let me know if you have any questions about the process, your project, etc.

Book/Article Review Dates Now Online

The dates for class members' presentations on their book/article review is now posted (in green) on the Calendar page. Please review this information for accuracy. If you did not identify which text(s) you will review, please let me know ASAP what you intend to ue for your presentaion/review.

Revision to Book/Article Review Assignment

I noticed a discrepancy this morning between the details of the book/article review assignment on the syllabus I distributed last week and what is on the website. The actual assignment is for you to read one book or three articles (so that there's some equivalency between the options) and write a 3-5 page review of the text(s).

The policies page is now up-to-date and correctly reflecting this change.
